Black tea between light and depth
Le Labo calls Thé Noir 29 an ode to the black tea leaf and to the craft around it. The scent swings between the lightness of bergamot, fig and bay leaves and the depth of cedarwood, vetiver and musk. This 100 ml Eau de Parfum finishes on a special extraction of black tea leaves, which gives the drydown its dry, leafy character.

The store’s selection is really good and comprehensive. Placing an order was very easy, and shipping was really fast. The fragrances were well packed and they were all...
On the skin
The brand describes the scent as a swing between two poles. On one side are bergamot, fig and bay leaves, which stand for lightness: citrus brightness, a green fig, a dry herbal leaf. On the other are cedarwood, vetiver and musk, which supply the depth.
Black tea leaves are more than a name here. The brand says a special extraction of them shapes the drydown, which it describes as dry and leafy. This is the part that makes a fresh, woody arrangement read as tea rather than as fruit or flowers.
Le Labo adds that the drydown has hay and tobacco nuances. Neither is listed as a note, so take them as descriptions of the leafy dryness, not as extra ingredients. With cedarwood, vetiver and musk underneath, the end is dry and woody, with a soft musk behind it.
Wearing it
The dry, leafy character makes Thé Noir 29 an easy daily scent, and the lighter materials suit spring and mild autumn days. Two or three sprays are enough for the office or an informal dinner; the woody base keeps it composed in cooler weather too.
People who want tea in a perfume as a dry, leafy note rather than a sweet one, and who enjoy woods and vetiver without heavy sweetness. It suits anyone after something calm and slightly dry: tea drinkers, perhaps, but also those who find sweet fragrances tiring. If you want an obviously sweet or fruity scent, look elsewhere.
The subject is tea and the brand says so plainly, with seven named materials and a drydown described in its own words. That makes it easy to judge in advance whether it is your kind of scent. It is an Eau de Parfum in the 100 ml size.
Questions
A 100 ml Eau de Parfum. The brand names seven materials and gives its list as a whole rather than as a pyramid.
Black tea leaf with bergamot, fig, bay leaves, cedarwood, vetiver and musk, ending in a dry, leafy drydown.
Both, in the brand's own words: it swings between the lightness of bergamot, fig and bay leaves and the depth of cedarwood, vetiver and musk.
Two or three sprays on the neck, chest or wrists. A lighter hand keeps the tea and the woods in balance.
The house
Le Labo is a perfume house founded in New York in 2006 by two friends, Fabrice Penot and Eddie Roschi. Its manifesto puts craftsmanship first, and its names pair a raw material with a number, as in Santal 33, Thé Noir 29 and Rose 31. Each bottle is labelled with a place, a date and the perfume's name.

Very good quality profume, it last long and it has a good price for its incredible aroma and mixes of fruit and wood smell
A cozy, slightly sensual vanilla that feels like warm night air by the sea. Easy to love if you enjoy gourmand perfumes with a soft smoky edge.
This perfume is really well blended, I just removed a star because I personnaly don't like the top note (citronella)
Placing the order was very easy. Shipping was very fast. I am completely satisfied.
Good cologne, love the citrus and ginger scent making it a playful combo while the tea base makes it a bit more mature. Great for the gym
FragranceGems is again really quick with their releases. I hope this one smells better than Too Damn Good. Already rating a 5 star because of previous experiences!!
Already pre-order. As always, FragranceGems is the first with good releases. Looking forward to my bottle!
The cap of the bottle came with a small part of it broken off and the glass pieces were in the box
