Turkish rose, vanilla and soft spice
Ani is a calm, romantic perfume that Nishane ties to the Anatolian folk song ‘Sarı Gelin’ and to the ancient city of Ani, now a ruin on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Bergamot, blue ginger and pink pepper open it, Turkish rose and blackcurrant sit at the heart, and a long base of vanilla, benzoin and ambergris carries it.

The store’s selection is really good and comprehensive. Placing an order was very easy, and shipping was really fast. The fragrances were well packed and they were all...
The composition
The curve shows the order in which the notes come forward, not their strength.
On the skin
The opening is fresh and a little sharp: bergamot, green notes, blue ginger and pink pepper. Ginger and pepper bring a light, dry spice rather than heat, and the green notes keep the first minutes clear before the rose and the sweeter layers arrive.
At the heart, Turkish rose is joined by blackcurrant, which gives it a tart, dark-fruit side, and by cardamom, a cool, aromatic spice. The rose therefore sits between fruit and spice instead of standing alone, which keeps the middle of the perfume lively.
The base is long and warm. Patchouli and cedarwood bring earth and dryness, vanilla and benzoin a soft, resinous sweetness, ambergris and musk a smooth background, and sandalwood a creamy depth. Vanilla is the thread that runs through all of it.
Wearing it
Ani is an extrait, so it is warm and close-fitting rather than airy. It suits cooler months and evenings best, and two or three sprays on the chest and wrists are enough. The vanilla grows more noticeable as the spice and green notes fade, so give it a little time on skin before judging it.
For people who like vanilla cut with spice, rose and wood, so that it never reads as plain sweetness. It suits dinners, quiet evenings and autumn and winter wardrobes, and it is a natural pick for anyone who prefers warm, calm scents to loud ones.
Ani belongs to Nishane's No Boundaries collection. The brand named it after the ancient city of Ani and says the idea is to dissolve borders between people and to build your own empire from the ruins. It launched in 2019, and the pyramid keeps Turkish rose at the heart with vanilla, benzoin and ambergris underneath.
Questions
Extrait de Parfum. At this concentration the vanilla and benzoin base is rich and unhurried, and the scent stays near the skin.
A calm, warm scent: bergamot, blue ginger and pink pepper first, Turkish rose and blackcurrant in the middle, then vanilla, benzoin and woods.
Autumn and winter, mostly, because of the warm vanilla and resinous base. On cool spring evenings it works too, thanks to the fresh, green, ginger-led opening.
It can be, for someone who likes warm scents with rose and vanilla. It is a soft, calm perfume rather than a bold one, and it comes in the brand's square glass flacon with a gold cap.
The house
Nishane is an Istanbul house founded in 2012 by Mert Güzel and Murat Katran. Almost every perfume is an Extrait de Parfum in a square glass flacon with a gold cap, and the label carries a city name. The stories draw on Rumi's poetry, Turkish shadow theatre and an Anatolian folk song.

Very good quality profume, it last long and it has a good price for its incredible aroma and mixes of fruit and wood smell
A cozy, slightly sensual vanilla that feels like warm night air by the sea. Easy to love if you enjoy gourmand perfumes with a soft smoky edge.
This perfume is really well blended, I just removed a star because I personnaly don't like the top note (citronella)
Placing the order was very easy. Shipping was very fast. I am completely satisfied.
Good cologne, love the citrus and ginger scent making it a playful combo while the tea base makes it a bit more mature. Great for the gym
FragranceGems is again really quick with their releases. I hope this one smells better than Too Damn Good. Already rating a 5 star because of previous experiences!!
Already pre-order. As always, FragranceGems is the first with good releases. Looking forward to my bottle!
The cap of the bottle came with a small part of it broken off and the glass pieces were in the box
