Neptune's Trident, an Extrait de Parfum, belongs to Argos' Artist Series VIII and is based on Johann Michael Rottmayr's paintings of Neptune. The brand uses the sea god's two sides, calm water and rising storm, as its theme. Bergamot, mandarin, lavender and cardamom open it, a floral heart of green tea and jasmine follows, and a resinous, slightly salty base closes it.

Bergamot and mandarin give a light, juicy citrus, and lavender and cardamom add an aromatic, slightly spicy edge. The opening is clear and composed, which fits a theme that begins with calm water. Nothing in it is sweet or heavy yet, so the heart can come in quietly.

Green tea and flowers
Green tea, geranium, orange blossom and jasmine sambac make a calm floral heart. The tea keeps it clean and a little dry, the flowers add softness, and geranium gives a green lift. Nothing here is heavy; this is the quiet centre of the perfume.

Resin and a salty edge
Labdanum and ambergris bring depth, vetiver and iris give the base an earthy, soft structure, and musk and sandalwood support them. The brand calls the base resinous and slightly salty. It is fuller than the heart, a contrast in keeping with the theme of two sides.

An extrait is the most concentrated form, dense and built to last, so one or two sprays at the base of the throat are enough. The citrus and tea in the opening keep it wearable in warm weather as well as cool, by day or in the evening.

Listed as unisex, it is aimed at people who like aromatic, floral perfumes with a clean opening and a resinous base. If you are after an obviously sweet or gourmand scent, this is not it: there is no vanilla here, and the character is green, floral and resinous.

Argos sells Neptune's Trident only as an Extrait de Parfum, like some of the house's newer releases. The Artist Series bottle is made of thick Italian glass, polished by hand, and closed with a custom metal cap; a metal 3D plate set flush into it shows the artwork, a design by Christian Petrovich.

No. The brand sells Neptune's Trident only as an Extrait de Parfum, so this 100 ml bottle is the single version of the perfume.

Very good quality profume, it last long and it has a good price for its incredible aroma and mixes of fruit and wood smell
A cozy, slightly sensual vanilla that feels like warm night air by the sea. Easy to love if you enjoy gourmand perfumes with a soft smoky edge.
This perfume is really well blended, I just removed a star because I personnaly don't like the top note (citronella)
