How the line works
The idea comes from clothes. The Maison's Replica fashion pieces of 1994 were garments found around the world and reproduced, each with a label that named the source and period of the original. A cotton label of the same kind is tied to every perfume bottle, and its four headings read Originally, Provenance and Period, Fragrance Description and Style Description. Each perfume is a memory turned into a scent, made with a different perfumer, and the brand sorts the memories into four moods. All nine here belong to Replica Memories, the range of Eaux de Toilette, in the 100 ml bottle. An Eau de Parfum line, Replica Fantasies, was added in 2024 and is not part of this guide.
The nine by mood
The four moods are the brand's own. Inside each, the perfume with the most Parfumo ratings comes first.
Warm and cozy
By the Fireplace is a winter evening indoors while snow falls outside. Clove oil on top, gaïac wood oil and cade oil in the heart and Cashmeran in the base build the smoke of burning wood, and a chestnut accord with a vanilla accord adds the sweet side. Jazz Club is a basement bar in Brooklyn, with cocktails and cigar smoke. Rum absolute in the heart and vanilla bean in the base stand for the drinks, tobacco leaf absolute and pink pepper for the cigars, over styrax resin. More in Jazz Club notes.
Coffee Break is a winter pause in a coffee shop. A coffee accord with red apple and lemon opens it, lavender and spearmint brighten the heart, and a milk mousse accord with sandalwood and cedarwood closes it. In the brand's description it is a classic fougère structure, revisited.
Clean and fresh
Lazy Sunday Morning is waking late in freshly washed linen. A lily of the valley accord on top and white musks in the base give the clean sheet, while an iris accord and ambrette seeds absolute add a powdery warmth, like morning sun on skin.
Bubble Bath is a hot bath filled with foam. A soap bubbles accord opens it with bergamot and pink pepper, lavender, rose and jasmine form the heart, and a coconut milk accord, patchouli and white musks stand for the soft towel afterwards.
Sunny and invigorating
Beach Walk is a stroll on hot sand, with a salty breeze and the smell of sunscreen. Bergamot and lemon open it, ylang ylang and a coconut milk accord sit in the heart, and white musks give the feel of sun-warmed skin.
Under the Lemon Trees is a nap in the shade on a warm day. A kalamansi lime accord and petit grain open it, and coriander, mate absolute and a green tea extract make the leafy heart, over cedarwood.
Sailing Day is a day on a boat out at sea. An aquatic accord with aldehydes and juniper opens it, and red seaweed essence with an ambergris accord gives the base a salty, mineral depth.
Earthy and addictive
Autumn Vibes has this mood to itself: a walk through a forest in autumn. Pink pepper, coriander and cardamom are on top, carrot seeds, nutmeg and olibanum in the heart, and cedarwood, a moss accord and fir balsam absolute make the forest floor. Fanny Bal composed it, and this is the only Replica page that names its perfumer.
What keeps coming back
Read the nine pyramids side by side and a house palette appears. Pink pepper is the most frequent entry: five of the nine list it, always among the top notes. Cedarwood follows with four, always in the base, and musks close four as well, three of them as white musks. A coconut milk accord links Beach Walk and Bubble Bath, vanilla links By the Fireplace and Jazz Club, and coriander turns up in Under the Lemon Trees, Sailing Day and Autumn Vibes.
