Goldfield & Banks: a guide to the house and its perfumes

Goldfield & Banks is an Australian house, created by Dimitri Weber, that builds each perfume around a native Australian botanical. This guide covers the eight Goldfield & Banks perfumes we list, with the botanicals and essences the brand names and where they come from.

Goldfield & Banks Pacific Rock Moss Eau de Parfum 50 ml bottle

Goldfield & Banks is an Australian house built around native botanicals. It was created by the French-Belgian Dimitri Weber, and the brand's founder page describes a collection of gender-free fragrances that feature pure, rare Australian essences not explored in modern perfumery before. The eight perfumes we list are in the Goldfield & Banks collection.

What the house stands for

There is no single house perfumer. Weber is credited as creative director, and each product page names the perfumer of that fragrance. Most perfumes are tied to a place on the Australian map and to one material found there, such as finger lime from Byron Bay or agarwood from the rainforests of Queensland. The house name joins two ideas that the text for Silky Woods spells out: the Gold Rush, and the botanist Joseph Banks with his first voyage to Australia. Background on agarwood and oud is in our oud explainer.

What the perfumes have in common

Each product page states a concentration of essences and botanicals, between 20% and 26% for our eight. Seven are Eau de Parfum and one, Silky Woods Elixir, is an Extrait de Parfum; our article on perfume concentrations explains the terms. The bottles are French glass with a wooden cap, and the brand's lists give the origin of each ingredient, which we keep: lemon from Italy, vetiver from Haiti, benzoin from Laos. Where the brand gives a list of botanicals and essences and no pyramid, we list them the same way.

The perfumes we list

The order follows the ratings each perfume has on Parfumo, read from archived pages saved between December 2025 and September 2026, most rated first. Our research did not capture Fragrantica for this house.

Pacific Rock Moss

The first formulation the house ever made, and by a wide margin the most rated of the eight on Parfumo, with just over 3,000 ratings. It is built around Australian coastal moss from the South Coast and is meant to evoke sea spray and summer light. The brand lists the botanicals without stages: the moss, lemon from Italy, sage from France, geranium from Egypt, cedarwood from Virginia and white musk. François Merle-Baudoin and Carine Certain Boin are the perfumers, and the brand lists it among its best sellers. Ours is the 50 ml bottle.

Ingenious Ginger

A floral amber by Hamid Merati-Kashani that takes its cue from the Atherton Tablelands in tropical Queensland. Its hero is an Australian ginger flower accord based on the native Red Back Ginger, which the brand presents as a world-first in perfumery. Bergamot, mandarin and ginger open it, magnolia from China is the heart, and vanilla, amber and Australian sandalwood form the base.

Bohemian Lime

Amélie Jacquin's citrus aromatic looks up into the rainforest canopy of Byron Bay. Australian finger lime, whose Bundjalung name is Gulalung, is paired with coriander on top, and the scent deepens into vetiver from Haiti, Atlas cedarwood from Morocco and Australian sandalwood.

Silky Woods

The debut of the Botanical Series and the reason for the gold bottle, which is lacquered with 24-carat gold powder. Hamid Merati-Kashani built this woody gourmand on tropical Australian agarwood from the Queensland rainforests, which the brand says was sustainably harvested for perfumery for the first time. Cinnamon from Ceylon and tobacco leaf open it, ylang-ylang and Tahitian vanilla follow, and the agarwood is softened by suede and enriched with saffron, incense and sandalwood.

Sunset Hour

A fruity gourmand by Honorine Blanc that looks to the glowing skies over Broome. It is built on the Australian desert peach, a tart note the brand compares to rhubarb with a salty edge. Pear, mandarin, desert peach and raspberry are on top, jasmine sambac, green mango, ginger, coconut and pink pepper in the heart, and sandalwood, salted caramel, vanilla and benzoin in the base.

Silky Woods Elixir

The one Extrait de Parfum on this list, by Olivier Cresp and Hamid Merati-Kashani. It revisits the agarwood of Silky Woods in a darker key, with the ancient Daintree Rainforest of Far North Queensland as its setting. Fig and saffron open it, orris and smoky guaiac wood form the heart, and vanilla and Oud Assafi fuse with the Australian agarwood in the base.

Pacific Rock Flower

Emilie Bouge's floral aquatic is set on the sunlit coast of eastern Australia, among the small white blossoms of the native coastal tea tree. The brand layers coral flower, Cocowax and tuberose over patchouli from Indonesia and Australian sandalwood, with a sea salt accord and the coastal tea tree for the effect of salt air.

Rose Magnitude

A rose seen through the Australian landscape: a pink salt lake under pastel skies, and a flower the brand calls wild and not garden-grown. Clément Marx of Robertet composed it together with Dimitri Weber. Raspberry, cumin, orris butter and buckwheat open it, Damask rose, ginger, violet and geranium fill the heart, and black vanilla, tonka bean, sandalwood and papyrus close it. It has the fewest Parfumo ratings of the eight so far.

Where to start
