Scent family
Leather perfumes are built around a dry, tanned accord that can turn smoky, suede-soft or sweet. A hide yields no scent oil, so perfumers compose the effect from resins, woods and tar. In a composition it adds backbone and weight, usually in the heart or base, and frames flowers, spice or fruit in something darker.

There is no oil to distil from a hide, so a leather note is always composed. Perfumers combine smoky birch tar, resins, dry woods and tobacco-like materials, and for a quieter version they add powdery iris or violet. The result is called a leather accord. It reads as tanned, dry and a little animal, and it can go dark, soft or sweet depending on what surrounds it.
The dark direction leans on smoke and resin. In Amouage Interlude Man, the family is stated as woody and spicy, and the base lists leather beside agarwood smoke, patchouli and sandalwood.
The soft direction is suede: matte, brushed, close to the skin. Zoologist Penguin keeps suede in the base with sandalwood, musks and seamoss, and the house's own tagline pairs an icy, salty sea with suede.
The sweet and floral direction gives leather a partner. Pernoire Kama is labelled Sweet · Leathery by the house, with leather in the heart next to cotton candy, cypriol and dry amber. Maison Crivelli Tubéreuse Astrale is called a floral leather by Maison Crivelli, which lists tuberose and osmanthus absolutes, cistus, a leather accord and musks without any tiers.
Leather is seldom a top note. It is heavy and slow to evaporate, so it usually sits in the heart, where it gives the opening a backbone, or in the base, where it stays after the lighter notes have gone. Les Eaux Primordiales Saffron Superfluide shows the base version. The house calls it leathery and spicy with a fruity heart of raspberry, blackcurrant, jasmine and lily of the valley, and suede is listed in the base with saffron, cedarwood and guaiac wood.
Some houses skip the pyramid altogether. For Orto Parisi Cuoium, the brand's list is short: leather and natural materials.
Look at what stands next to the leather. Smoke, agarwood and tobacco push it darker. Iris, musk and woods keep it dry and soft. Vanilla, tonka and fruit warm it up. Maison Crivelli Oud Stallion shows a leather accord among spice and resin: the house calls it leather woody and lists cardamom, oud, nutmeg, saffron, rose, cedarwood, patchouli and roasted tonka bean beside it.
Leather perfumes tend to rest on heavy base materials, and several of the examples here are extraits, which are dense and stay close to the skin. If the family is new to you, start with a version where leather shares the pyramid with a note you already like, such as vanilla, iris or rose, and move on to oud, tobacco and saffron from there.
Leather perfumes
No. A hide does not give up a scent oil, so the note is always a composition. Houses blend smoky, resinous, woody and powdery materials into a leather accord, and each one balances them in its own way.
Heavy base materials and a high concentration make leather feel rich, which is why many people reach for it in cooler months. Lighter, suede-style versions can sit more easily in warm air.
Smoky woods, oud and tobacco deepen it. Iris, violet and musk keep it soft. Vanilla, tonka, amber and fruit add warmth, and white flowers such as tuberose give it a floral contrast.

Very good quality profume, it last long and it has a good price for its incredible aroma and mixes of fruit and wood smell
A cozy, slightly sensual vanilla that feels like warm night air by the sea. Easy to love if you enjoy gourmand perfumes with a soft smoky edge.
This perfume is really well blended, I just removed a star because I personnaly don't like the top note (citronella)
Placing the order was very easy. Shipping was very fast. I am completely satisfied.
Good cologne, love the citrus and ginger scent making it a playful combo while the tea base makes it a bit more mature. Great for the gym
