Amouage: a guide to the house and its perfumes
Amouage is an Omani house founded in 1983 that places Arabian perfume culture at the heart of every creation. This guide covers the eight Amouage perfumes we list, with their notes and the concentrations the house states.
Amouage was founded in the Sultanate of Oman in 1983 by the Albusaidi family, presented in the house's own words as "The Gift of Kings". The perfumes are composed by perfumers in Paris, Grasse, Geneva and New York, and most are made at the house's own Manufacture and Visitors' Centre in Muscat. All eight we list are in the Amouage collection. If the term is new to you, what niche perfume is is a good first read.
What the house stands for
Amouage says Oman was a historic trading centre for incense and myrrh, and that Arabian perfume culture lies at the heart of every creation. The classics it names are Gold, Jubilation, Epic, Dia, Reflection, Honour and Interlude. Renaud Salmon is Chief Creative Officer and directed the Guidance Collection.
What the perfumes have in common
The house states its concentrations openly. Its own scale puts Eau de Parfum at 15 to 35% perfume oil and Extrait de Parfum at 40 to 56%. Of our eight, six are Eau de Parfum, Outlands is an Essence de Parfum and Guidance 46 is an Extrait de Parfum. The house also states how long each blend is aged: four weeks for Guidance and Guidance 46, six weeks for Interlude Man, Interlude Black Iris Man and Honour Woman, and eight weeks for Reflection Man and Jubilation XXV Man. Outlands is infused for six months instead. Frankincense appears in the notes of seven of the eight, which gives the range a family resemblance despite very different openings. For what the concentration names mean, see our guide to perfume concentrations.
The perfumes we list
Most reviewed on Fragrantica first, as counted in early October 2026.
Reflection Man
Composed by Lucas Sieuzac and filed by the house under fougère and amber. Rosemary, red pepper berries and bitter orange leaves open it, neroli, orris, jasmine and ylang-ylang form the heart, and vetiver, patchouli, sandalwood and cedarwood the base. The brand states 25% perfume oil. It is the most reviewed Amouage on Fragrantica.

Guidance
From the Escape chapter of the Odyssey Collection, released in 2023, it reinterprets the house triad of rose, frankincense and ambergris. The brand says it reads like a poem and feels like an embrace. Quentin Bisch composed it. Pear, frankincense and hazelnut open it, saffron, rose, jasmine sambac and osmanthus form the heart, and cistus, sandalwood, akigalawood, ambergris and vanilla close it. 25% perfume oil.

Interlude Man
A spicy, woody fragrance born from chaos and disorder, with a moment of calm hidden at its heart. Pierre Negrin composed it. Bergamot, oregano and pimento berry oil open it, amber, frankincense, cistus and opoponax follow, and leather, agarwood smoke, patchouli and sandalwood close it. 29% perfume oil.

Jubilation XXV Man
A dense, resinous composition that the house files under woody. Labdanum, coriander, orange and frankincense sit on top, honey, cinnamon, rose and clove in the heart, and myrrh, cedar, ambergris, oud and immortelle among many base notes. The brand gives it 23% perfume oil.

Interlude Black Iris Man
A reworking of Interlude Man: the brand likens it to an overpainting that smooths the facets of the original with a finer palette. Orris joins amber, frankincense, cistus, myrrh and vanilla, over leather, agarwood smoke and woods. 25% perfume oil.

Outlands
One of the house's Essences, composed by Cécile Zarokian as an invitation to travel beyond the known. A bright citrus opening gives way to hot, humid, green patchouli and an amber accord of balsams and resins. It holds 30% perfume oil and is infused for six months with sandalwood chips and with bioethanol aged in oak barrels, in the house's first new bottle design in 15 years.

Guidance 46
The Extrait follow-up to Guidance, again by Quentin Bisch. Nothing was removed from the original formula; rose water, pink pepper, bitter almond, ambrette, Georgywood and cypriol were added so that every part stands out with more power. 46% perfume oil, pitched for formal events and date nights.
Honour Woman
A white floral that takes the tragic fate of Madame Butterfly as its starting point. Black pepper, rhubarb leaves and coriander open it, jasmine, tuberose, gardenia, lily of the valley and carnation fill the heart, and vetiver, frankincense, amber, opoponax and leather end it. 28% perfume oil.

- Rose, saffron and vanilla: Guidance, and Guidance 46 for the denser version.
- Spice, smoke and leather: Interlude Man, or Interlude Black Iris Man with orris.
- Dense and resinous: Jubilation XXV Man.
